Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas has come a little early for fans of Les Chanteurs Acadiens — a new album!

Chansons de par icitte (featuring 15 original songs), hasn’t been officially released yet, but if you go to any of the band’s shows before the new year, Don might sell you a copy, just in time for the holidays! You can also order an album by filling out our e-mail form, just make sure to say in the comments that you want to order an album.

(Although it’s better to order sooner than later, we can’t guarantee it will arrive to your corner of the planet in time for Christmas).

After nearly 30 years of playing a mixture of traditional and original folk music en français, Les Chanteurs Acadiens are releasing an album of 15 original songs en français. Chansons de par icitte will be officially released in early 2018.

All songs on this new album are composed by Don Levesque and arranged by the group, with the exception of BACDIE which was composed and arranged by Roger Damboise (and J.S. Bach!).

We’ve added a new section to our website aptly called New Album! There you’ll find background information and lyrics for the songs, as well as some links to videos to three new songs.

As always, thank you very much for your continued support — ça fait chaud au coeur!

Joyeuses fêtes to you and yours, et bonne année!

25 ans – Ça chante encore!

Bonne fête de l’Acadie!

To celebrate Acadian Day this year, we’ve added a new section to the website: song lyrics!

If you’ve ever been curious to find out what Les Chanteurs Acadiens are singing about, click the link and you’ll find short explanations (in English) for eight of their original songs: I Will Not Speak French in SchoolChanson des patoisRamasser des patatesLes Filles de QuimbyY a pu grand mondeJ’m’ennui d’che’ nous (which were composed by Don Levesque) and Mon petit coin de paye (composed by former band member Joyce Comeau-Crosby).

This selection of Chanteurs Acadiens favourite songs were featured on the group’s 25th Anniversary CD, which was released in 2015.

On the Song Lyrics page you’ll find individual links to read the lyrics, as well as some links to youtube to listen to certain songs. Please note: links do not open in another window, but in the same tab. To go back to the lyrics page, please click the “back” button on your browser. (we hope to fix that at some point, please bear with us).

As always, thank you for your continued support of Les Chanteurs Acadiens and their work – it’s greatly appreciated!

Merci – et vive l’Acadie!

Hello! Sorry!

This website was created in 2013 by Don Levesque’s (of Les Chanteurs Acadiens) daughter (hi) for a web design course, and then instantly forgotten the moment that course was finished (sorry).

If you’ve sent e-mails through our contact us page or used our handy-dandy, super-convenient form in the “book the band” section (so convenient, right?) over the past four years (ugh) and didn’t hear boo! from anyone, Don’s daughter (hi again) is sincerely sorry. Please don’t mistake her lack of follow through for the band’s enthusiasm for their fans. They super love you guys and are grateful for your continued support. Really.

CONTACT US: E-MAIL

Hey, Don’s daughter fudged up. But if you send an e-mail now, someone will get back to you in a timely, not at all infuriating, manner. So, like, within two years (ha ha), but almost certainly in a day or two because Don’s daughter has made sure he has logins for the e-mail account. Which, in retrospect, she should have done in 2013. But you know what? She doesn’t have a time machine and neither do you.

So, please send those messages because Les Chanteurs Acadiens want to hear from you! Or fill out this handy-dandy, super convenient form to enquire about booking the band. They’ll get back to you – promesse de Jeannette! (Scout’s honor!)

CONTACT US: FACEBOOK

If you don’t trust that someone will answer your e-mail or respond to the messages that come through our handy-dandy, super convenient form – and hey who can blame you? – you can find Les Chanteurs Acadiens through their Facebook group/page which Don checks quite regularly (every day maybe? probably, right? Like, that’s what you do with Facebook, you check it every day? she asked knowing full-well that’s how Facebook works).

You can find Les Chanteurs Acadiens’ Facebook page here: Les Chanteurs Acadiens sur Facebook

SORRY: STILL

In conclusion, Don’s daughter feels super poopy about flaking on this website for so long. If you do get in touch through here someone WILL respond. Promise.

Thank you for supporting Les Chanteurs Acadiens – it’s greatly appreciated!

p.s. Andréa (a.k.a. Don’s daughter) wrote this whole thing, he’s not actually passive aggressively voicing his displeasure with me through the band’s website – which I forgot existed until tonight, May 19 TWENTY-SEVENTEEN. I’M A PROFESSIONAL, WHEEEEEE! Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom, you superstar. Go have a snack, you deserve it.

Welcome to our new website!

Hello and welcome to our new little corner of the Internet!

We are still under construction, but please feel free to poke around. We have a fair bit of information up already, but if you see something, or have any suggestions, let us know!

Things we have in the hopper:

  • pick/update the layout and colours
  • add photos
  • add a section for merch
  • and that’s all we can think of for now.
